- Design and Cutting: A design is created digitally and then cut out of the HTV material using a vinyl cutter. The design is cut in reverse.
- Weeding: The excess vinyl around the design is removed, leaving only the desired image or text on a clear carrier sheet. This process is called weeding.
- Heat Application: The garment is placed on a heat press, and the HTV design (still on its carrier sheet) is positioned on top.
- Transfer: Heat and pressure are applied by the heat press for a specific amount of time. This causes the adhesive backing on the HTV to melt and bond permanently to the fabric.
- Carrier Removal: Once cooled slightly, the clear carrier sheet is peeled away, leaving the vibrant, durable design adhered to the garment.
